Introduction
The American Journal of Surgical Sciences (AJSS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing knowledge across general surgery and all surgical subspecialties. AJSS publishes clinically relevant research, translational studies, and innovations that improve perioperative care, surgical safety, and patient outcomes.
We welcome original research, systematic and scoping reviews, brief communications, technical notes, case series, and practice guidelines spanning (but not limited to) general surgery, trauma and acute care surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, paediatric surgery, transplant surgery, surgical oncology, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, anaesthesia-perioperative medicine interfaces, surgical education, simulation, and global surgery.
Through rigorous peer review and transparent editorial practices, AJSS promotes reproducibility, ethical conduct, and equitable access to surgical science that can be implemented at the bedside and in the operating room.
