About the Journal

The American Journal of Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer Applications (AJTHA) publishes peer-reviewed research advancing fundamental and applied thermal sciences. We welcome contributions that deliver new physical insights, validated models, or engineering solutions for energy, process, aerospace, automotive, chemical, manufacturing, electronics cooling, and built-environment applications.

Mission: To accelerate reliable, open research that improves thermal efficiency, safety, and sustainability across real-world systems.

Aims & Scope

  • Classical & statistical thermodynamics; exergy & entropy generation
  • Heat transfer: conduction, convection, radiation; phase change, boiling/condensation
  • Thermal system design, optimization, and control; heat exchangers; recuperators
  • Micro/nanoscale transport, rarefied gas dynamics, phonon/electron heat conduction
  • Porous media, multiphase flows, fluid–structure/thermal coupling
  • Combustion, reacting flows, and high-temperature processes
  • Power/refrigeration cycles, ORC, heat pumps, district energy, HVAC&R
  • Electronics & battery thermal management; data centers; aerospace thermal protection
  • Renewables and waste-heat recovery; thermal energy storage (sensible, latent, thermochemical)
  • Experimental methods, metrology, uncertainty analysis; CFD/CFX/LES/DNS with validation

Article Types

  • Original Research Articles (theory/experiment/numerical)
  • Systematic Reviews & Meta-analyses
  • Technical Notes & Methodology Papers
  • Design/Development Reports & Case Applications
  • Replication Studies and Registered Reports
  • Data/Model Papers with reusable datasets or code

Peer Review & Editorial Process

Submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two experts. Editorial screening checks scope, ethics, and reproducibility (mesh independence, grid/time-step sensitivity, validation, uncertainty budgets). Typical time to first decision is 4–6 weeks.

Open Access & Licensing

AJTHA is open access under a CC BY license. Authors retain copyright. See APC policy for fees/waivers.

Indexing & Archiving

DOIs are registered via Crossref. Target indexing includes Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Scopus (subject to eligibility). Archiving via periodic repository submissions and backups.
