About the Journal

The American Journal of Earth Sciences (AJES) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing high-quality research across the solid Earth, oceans, atmosphere, cryosphere, and the coupled Earth system. Our mission is to advance fundamental understanding and support evidence-based decisions for natural resource stewardship, hazard mitigation, and sustainable development.

AJES welcomes original research articles, reviews, short communications, methods/data papers, case studies, and perspectives. Interdisciplinary work that integrates field observations, laboratory analysis, modeling, and remote sensing is strongly encouraged. Core areas include:

All manuscripts undergo rigorous double-blind peer review managed by an international editorial board. AJES supports open science practices, including data and code availability where feasible, transparent methods, and reproducibility.

As an open-access journal, AJES provides immediate, free access to published content to accelerate discovery and application in research, education, and policy.

The journal is published quarterly and is working toward inclusion in major indexing services to maximise the visibility and impact of authors’ work.
